Wire EDM Setup/Operator
Jackson,
WI,
United States
The role
We’re looking for an experienced wire EDM operator to set up and run wire machines in our Jackson shop. Programs come from our office. Your job is the work at the machine: setting up jobs, making adjustments, and getting good parts off the machine on time.
1st Shift / 2nd Shift / Weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun)
Responsibilities
- Set up jobs from programs and setup sheets: fixturing, indicating, pickups and threading
- Run jobs and make adjustments at the machine to hold tolerance
- Check your own work against the print, including first-piece and in-process inspection
- Handle routine machine care: wire, filters, resin and general upkeep
- Catch problems in drawings or programs and bring them back to the office before they turn into scrap
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
Must Have
- 5+ years of hands-on wire EDM setup and operation. Mitsubishi experience is a plus, but not required
- Able to read prints, including GD&T
- Comfortable with standard inspection tools: micrometers, indicators, height gauges and pins
- Understands the fundamentals of how wire EDM works and wants to keep learning
- The right attitude. It matters more here than anything else on this list
We're Looking For
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot issues
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable attendance and professional work ethic
- Strong commitment to safety
What's great in the job?
- A real mix of work: aerospace, medical, defense and tooling, from small precision parts to exotic materials
- A shop that runs on systems: ISO 9001 quality and clear job paperwork
- Veteran-owned, and run by people who treat you like an adult: real responsibility, no micromanagement
- A small team where your judgment counts. When you catch a problem with a drawing or a job, people listen
- Cross-training on sinker EDM, small hole EDM and grinding if you want to broaden your skills
