Our Story

Family and tradition.  We share your vision to get the job done.

Milwaukee Area Roots

Infinity EDM, LLC was founded in 1998 by Richard Marx and Michael Knier in Jackson, WI.  They had two wire EDM machines and a small hole driller situated in a 2,700 sq. ft. facility.  Through hard work, Infinity grew, adding numerous large wire EDM machines, additional small hole drillers, and support equipment.  Infinity also gained a talented group of employees, enhanced efficiency, and eventually expanded to three shifts.

Due to increasing demand, in 2013 Infinity added machining centers enabling us to complete projects from start to finish. In the spring of 2015, Infinity moved from its original building into a new 30,600 sq. ft. facility which allowed the addition more machining centers, and wet grinding capabilities coupled with heavy lift bridge cranes.

Infinity was acquired by Kyle Crum in the fall of 2025.  This transition ensures that Infinity will remain family-owned and locally operated, preserving the direct accountability and personal investment that defined the company's first 27 years. The foundation Richard and Michael built—technical expertise, operational discipline, and unwavering customer focus—continues under new ownership committed to growing these strengths while maintaining the culture that made Infinity successful.

Family and Service

Infinity is family-owned and operated by an owner whose background bridges technology strategy and hands-on manufacturing. After earning a master's degree in mechanical engineering, our owner spent years in roles ranging from managing global R&D teams and university teaching to defense applications and eight years of service in the U.S. Navy. That path—from developing technology for Fortune 500 companies to serving on state technology councils to running three-shift manufacturing operations—creates a perspective that's rare in manufacturing services companies. We understand both the strategic importance of your work and the practical realities of getting it done. We've seen manufacturing from research labs, corporate strategy rooms, academic settings, and production floors. As a family business, that accumulated experience is directly accessible to you, not buried in a corporate hierarchy.

Proudly Veteran Owned

Infinity's belief in service starts at the top.  We are owned and operated by a veteran of the U.S. Navy*.

*But be careful when asking him about it.  You're going to hear sea stories and why the Navy is the "best" uniformed service. We've heard all these and have no interest in hearing them again.  He knows and doesn't seem to care.
